Images from this series were published in LensWork in their August 2020 issue. Metairie Cemetery is located just outside of New Orleans, and dates back prior to the Civil War, when it was first a racetrack for horses and then once the Civil War broke out, a Confederate Army Camp. I love meandering through old cemeteries and finding the hidden gems. The mixture of peacefulness, spirituality, architecture, decay, and mystery make for engaging subject matter.
